Strike for More Beer at Working Time
Brewer Carlsberg faced strikes from its workers after the recent restriction of alcohol policy was stated. This restriction stated that workers are only allowed to drink beer during lunch hours in the canteen. This Danish brewer also took all the coolers from the workplace and this trigger more anger from its employee and make them walk off from their job and protest on Thursday.
The workers from warehouse and production were resisting the company’s new alcohol policy. Spokesman from this brewer said that the restriction that official before was just a prohibition to be drunk at work, and it was everyone’s responsibility. At that time workers are free to drink beers during working hours they took from the coolers surrounding in the working area.
This alcohol policy was actually being thought from Carlsberg since years ago, but finally he imposes it on April 1. The strike is also joined by the truck driver from Carlsberg’s brewer, actually those driver are not able to drink beer during office hours but they have the right to take about 3 bottles of beer home. The total amount of 800 workers was on the strike happened on Wednesday, and on Thursday 250 workers were walked off from their jobs. This strike affects the disorder of beer transport around Copenhagen.
