Charlie Francis, Ben Johnson’s Coach Dies at 61
Very long time ago in 1988 when Olympics were held in Seoul, there is one name that famous and was a being a hot topic which consider as the fastest man in the world. He was the first man who reaches the finish line in one of the athletic series, of 100m sprint, he is Ben Johnson. He was a Canadian sprinter. He received a gold medal.
But unfortunately not too long after the euphoria, public were shocked from the news reported that Ben Johnson has actually cheated in that Olympic event. He used steroids in order to make him able to run very fast. The Olympic committee found from his urine that he has consumed this banned drug before this event held. Ben Johnson then was obliged to give back the medal and considered to be a disgraced attitude.
Ben Johnson was influenced by his coach, Charlie Francis to misuse the steroid before the competition. It was reported that on May 12, 2010 Charlie Francis has died after five years suffered from cancer. He died in Toronto hospital. Other Canadian athletes was coached by Francis were Tim Montgomery and Marion Jones. They were also fall into cheating cases of using steroids.
